6 Reasons to Bring Your Team to the GLS in 2016

1540390_361691707332817_8608153200924312460_oJosh Andrews is the CEO and Founder of Finish Point, a carpentry and millwork company based out of Knoxville, Tennessee. When he first began working as a home remodeler in 2007, he was a one-man show, but has since grown to a staff of 20, expanding their services through the entire Tennessee Valley.

But Finish Point is not your typical contract company. Josh sets his goals for something much higher. The way he leads his company is an inspiration, and he is breaking the mold of expectation for the average tradesman and changing the way people see carpenters, and the GLS is helping him to achieve these goals. (To learn more about how Josh integrates his faith in the workplace, read his story here.)

Here are six reasons Josh recommends bringing your team to the GLS in 2016:

  1. The GLS increases your business capacity
I first came to the Summit in 2014. The first year I brought 4 of 12 staff members which, in my opinion, was the crucible that started the most meaningful and life/business-changing efforts I have experienced since striking out on my own eight years ago. The GLS is helping our team achieve great things. Our customers love us, our team members are experiencing life change, and I’m learning to love life, my family and my work in more impactful and sustainable ways. It is helping me grow into the leader I need to be to teach others and increase the capacity in our organization.
  1. The GLS empowers your team
In 2015 we made attendance to the Summit optional for everyone in the company, and it has helped several people on our staff in ways money can’t buy. For the staff member who chooses to attend, it reinforces the helpful pointers I impart to them and gives them the discernment to correct me when I’m in error! Bringing as many people from your team as possible is a no brainer. You multiply leadership growth by the amount of people you bring. There may even be an exponential multiplying factor! My dream is to help my staff break perceived barriers to their personal growth and help them achieve things they didn’t realize they could achieve. The GLS is helping me do that.
  1. The GLS provides year-round engagement tools
One of my favorite things about the GLS is that my whole staff walks away every year with 10+ great authors who are experts on all-around business street smarts, leadership, customer service, and everything else we need to run a thriving business. Making sure we have the resources (books and video stream) we need to successfully navigate the other 363 days away from the Summit might be the best thing the Summit does for its attendees.
  1. The GLS connects people in the community
I love how the Summit is connecting with people from all walks of life. It’s disturbing to me when I consider how poorly the church is connecting with the society around it. Instead of making God look attractive and supreme to the culture around us, we’re giving the world more reasons NOT to believe in God. The Summit is helping people make a positive difference in all of their life: work, home, ministry, personal growth, etc.
  1. The GLS has an eternal impact
As a small business owner, I’m desperate for help in not only staying in business and having enough success to care for my family and the 22 families that represent our company, but the eternal impact we make on people’s souls with the opportunities we have. It’s my opinion that all souls are equal in God’s eyes and I want to make sure my business is a place where people can come to experience consistently the love of Jesus in the way they’re treated, compensated and loved even when they’re not on the clock. The GLS, apart from the authors they’ve introduced me to, has been the most team-engaging crucible for amplifying the leadership and love quotient in our company. I don’t see how someone could attend the Summit and not be impacted in a life-changing way all while meeting the maker and savior of their soul.
  1. The GLS is a high value for the cost
Life happens fast and you want to make a difference with your life. But how badly do you want it? How hard are you willing to fight opposition to love those around you? Your staff isn’t who needs to be fixed, it’s you! How can you afford NOT to attend the Summit? As someone who has hired several outside consultants, participates in monthly executive round table meetings that I pay a healthy fee for and read almost every modern book on leadership, I’m not aware of another resource that makes such an immediate and deep impact on your whole staff as the GLS. It’s nothing like telling your team mates or staff about something you learned in a book or video. They get to experience leadership development and increase their vision for how God can work through their everyday actions first hand right beside you!If you’re a Christian business owner, and that doesn’t energize you, what in the world are you running your business for? The eternal impact we make with our organizations in this life is all that matters, and the GLS will help your whole staff align with what really matters in this life.”
